Israeli forces reportedly prevented the shipment of dozens of truckloads of goods, including fuel, into the Gaza Strip on the night (local time) of Monday, October 22. The rationale for the blockage was not immediately reported. Resultant shortages of basic goods are possible in Gaza in the coming days along with related protests and violence.

Israeli authorities reopened the Erez and Kerem Shalom crossings between Israel and the Gaza Strip on October 21; the border crossings had been closed since October 17, after several rockets were fired from Gaza into Israel. Israeli forces responded by launching airstrikes on more than 20 sites in the Gaza Strip.

Individuals present in Israel and the Palestinian Territories are advised to monitor developments to the situation and adhere to all instructions issued by their home governments. Some Western governments advise their citizens against all travel to the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, and areas near the Israeli-Lebanese, Israeli-Syrian, and Israeli-Egyptian borders.
