A demonstration is scheduled to take place in front of the Consulate of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Istanbul at 18:00 (local time) on Thursday, October 25. According to local sources, the demonstration is being organized to protest the death of Jamal Khashoggi, a Saudi journalist and writer for the Washington Post. A heightened security presence and associated transportation disruptions are to be anticipated near the consulate during the strike.


Jamal Khashoggi fled Saudi Arabia in 2017 after criticizing the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammad bin Salman. Khashoggi disappeared on October 2 after entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. On October 20, Saudi officials announced that Khashoggi had been killed inside the consulate.


Individuals in Istanbul are advised to avoid all protests as a precaution, monitor developments to the situation, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
