One death in bridge protest in Dhaka October 26, localized disruption expected

A transport worker was killed in clashes with security forces in the Keraniganj sub-district of the capital Dhaka on Friday, October 26. Workers had gathered at the Postogola Burigonga Bridge to protest a toll increase. Security forces used live ammunition to disperse the demonstrators. Temporary traffic disruptions are possible. Further such protests can be anticipated in the coming days.


Individuals present in Dhaka and elsewhere in Bangladesh are advised to avoid all protests and due to the risk of violence and to adhere to any instructions issued by the local authorities.
