The Parent Web civil society group is planning to hold an unauthorized protest in Moscow on Sunday, October 28, in Lubyanka Square outside the Federal Security Service (FSB) headquarters. According to the group, the demonstration will be held from 14:00 to 16:00 (local time). Participants are being asked not to carry signs, block roads, or shout slogans to avoid unnecessary arrests. As of Friday, October 26, it is unclear how many people will attend the protest. A heightened security presence is expected around the demonstration.
The group is demanding the release of 11 young people arrested by the FSB in March 2017 for being members of an alleged extremist group. A similar demonstration was held in August 2017.
Individuals in Moscow are advised to avoid all protests and demonstrations as a precaution and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities.
