TIMEFRAME expected from 11/7/2018, 12:00 AM until 11/7/2018, 11:59 PM (Asia/Tbilisi). COUNTRY/REGION Abkhazia

An annual rally is scheduled to take place in the capital Tbilisi on Wednesday, November 7, to commemorate large anti-government protests which were brutally dispersed in 2007. Participants will gather at 16:00 (local time) on Rustaveli Avenue. Localized transportation disruptions are expected, along with an increased security presence.

A series of anti-government protests took place in November 2007 against the allegedly corrupt government of then President Mikheil Saakashvili. On November 7, 2007, mass protests on Rustaveli Avenue were violently dispersed by the security forces who used tear gas and water cannons against demonstrators.

Individuals in the area are advised to avoid all gatherings as a precaution.
