Members of the civil society group AutoEuroSyla have called for sustained demonstrations in Kyiv beginning on Wednesday, November 7, in support of lower import taxes on cars purchased and registered in the EU. Demonstrators have reportedly parked their vehicles on roads adjacent to the Verkhovna Rada parliament building and Peremohy Avenue near the Ministry of Infrastructure, causing traffic disruptions. The demonstrations and associated rallies are expected to continue through Thursday, November 8, when the parliament will hold a second reading of the bill. A heightened security presence and significant traffic disruptions are to be expected near related gatherings.
