Two passenger buses were involved in a head-on collision on the Harare-Mutare highway near Rusape (Manicaland province) on the afternoon (local time) of Wednesday, November 7. According to reports, at least 47 people were killed in the accident. Transportation disruptions are anticipated on the highway in the coming hours.


At least 42,430 road accidents were reported across Zimbabwe in 2017, leading to the deaths of at least 1838 people.


Travelers in Zimbabwe are advised to avoid traveling by bus. More generally, individuals in Zimbabwe are advised to be highly cautious while traveling by road; if possible, avoid traveling at night and only travel in well-maintained vehicles with seatbelts.
