Protests denouncing the jailing of former Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski are possible in the capital Skopje in the coming days. Gruevski is expected to begin serving his sentence on Thursday, November 8. Demonstrations organized by the opposition party VMRO-DPMNE had already taken place on November 7, causing transportation disruptions as protesters blocked Goce Delchev boulevard.

Gruevski, former prime minister and president of VMRO-DPMNE, was sentenced to two years in jail for corruption. Some of his supporters believe it was a politically motivated decision.

Individuals in Skopje are advised to monitor the situation and avoid all gatherings as a precaution.
