Tensions remain high throughout Oromia region following a series of violent intercommunal clashes that broke out between Monday, November 12, and Wednesday, November 14. According to reports, at least 12 people were killed and 17 more wounded in Moyale. A heightened security presence is anticipated in the area in the coming days and weeks. Further intercommunal fighting cannot be ruled out in Oromia region, and particularly in Moyale.


Violent clashes between members of the Oromo and Somali communities are frequently reported in Oromia region.
