The Bolivian military is planning to launch a military operation between the municipalities of Viacha and Corocoro in La Paz department starting on Monday, November 19. According to minister of defense, around 8000 soldiers will be deployed to the region to combat smuggling. The operation is expected to last for at least five days and further exercises are anticipated during the month of November.
According to the minister, the objective of the operation is to reduce the amount of illicit material being transported to Bolivia from Chile.
Individuals in La Paz department, particularly near Viacha and Corocoro, are advised to monitor the situation and obey all instructions issued by the local authorities.
