Tunisia News Alert

Taxi driver strike to be held in Tunis on November 26 following killing of taxi driver; associated demonstrations possible

TIMEFRAME expected from 11/25/2018, 12:00 AM until 11/26/2018, 11:59 PM (Africa/Tunis). COUNTRY/REGION Tunis

Unions representing taxi drivers have called for a strike to be held in Tunis on Monday, November 26. According to local sources, the strike is being organized to protest the killing of a taxi driver during a robbery on Friday, November 23. Associated demonstrations are possible in Tunis. Transportation disruptions are expected during the planned strike, as well as higher demand for alternate means of transportation.

Individuals in Tunis are advised to book necessary transportation services as early as possible in anticipation of a shortage of available taxis, allow for extra time to reach their destinations in affected areas, and avoid all protests and demonstrations as a precaution.
