Taxi drivers are set to hold a protest in the capital San José on Monday, November 26, to demand government regulation of the ride-sharing app Uber. Drivers have announced they will gather at 07:00 (local time) in the Gimnasio Nacional area before moving towards the Aresep offices (Regulatory Authority of Public Services) in Guachipelin, where they plan to hold a sit-in until further notice. Traffic disruptions in the vicinity of the protests are to be anticipated, along with reduced taxi availability. Associated clashes and other violence cannot be ruled out.
Individuals in San José are advised to avoid all protests as a precaution and allow for additional time to reach their destinations.
