Police will close roads around the White House and National Mall in Washington, DC on Wednesday, November 28, from 12:00 to 20:00 (local time) for the National Christmas Tree lighting ceremony. Roads will be closed between 18th Street NW and 14th Street NW between Lafayette Square and the National Mall, including Constitution Avenue and 17th Street NW. Traffic congestion is expected during the afternoon rush hour commute, particularly on Interstate-395 (14th Street Bridge) and Interstate-66 (Teddy Roosevelt Bridge). Crowded public transportation conditions are also likely.

The lighting ceremony will begin at 16:30 at the Ellipse. A heightened security presence is expected.
