Activists in Montevideo have called for demonstrations on Thursday, November 29, and Friday, November 30, to protest the presence of US troops in the country amid the US president's visit to Argentina for the G20 Summit. Protests are scheduled to begin at 18:30 (local time) on Thursday and 18:00 on Friday at Plaza de Cagancha (Plaza Libertad). Associated traffic disruptions and an increased security presence are expected around the protest site.

The US military has deployed several military aircraft and up to 400 troops to Carrasco International Airport (MVD) near Montevideo to assist with securing US President Donald Trump's visit to Argentina during the G20 Summit.
