A series of strikes will affect the rail network throughout Italy from Sunday, December 9, to Sunday, December 16. On December 9, employees at Trenord, a train operator in the Lombardia region, will hold a 23-hour strike from 03:00 (local time); on December 10, work stoppages will affect the regional operator Trenitalia in the Calabria region from 9:01 to 17:00; on December 16, Trenitalia staff in the Veneto region will go on strike from 9:01 to 16:59. Associated rail transportation delays and cancelations are expected throughout the network.
On December 4, two strikes had already affected Italo NTV, the high-speed rail operator, and Trenitalia in the Sicily region.
Individuals in affected areas are advised to monitor the development of the situation, confirm train schedules, budget extra time to reach their destinations, and seek alternative means of transportation as necessary.
