The National Weather Service (NWS) issued flood warnings in the Houston and Galveston (Texas) area due to the potential for heavy rains and severe flooding between Friday, December 7, and Saturday, December 8. According to officials, the heaviest rainfall will occur from 18:00 (local time) on Friday to 09:00 on Saturday. Forecasts indicate rainfall totals of up to 15 cm (6 in) are expected in most areas, with the potential for localized totals of up to 25 cm (10 in). Localized transportation disruptions, including road closures, are possible in the Houston and Galveston areas over the coming days.
Individuals present in and around Houston and Galveston are advised to follow all instructions as issued by local authorities and anticipate residual transportation disruptions.
