Two Israeli nationals were killed and two others wounded in Givat Assaf, in the West Bank, on Thursday, December 13, after shots were reportedly fired from a driving car. The identity of the attacker has not been revealed. A heightened security presence can be expected in and around the site of the attack, as the area is regularly patrolled by Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). Further such attacks cannot be ruled out.
Palestinian attacks targeting Israelis are not uncommon in the West Bank. Notably, on December 9, a similar attack allegedly conducted by a Palestinian national, resulted in seven people being injured.
Individuals present in Israel and the Palestinian Territories are advised to monitor developments to the situation. Due to the underlying terrorist threat, travelers in Israel, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip are advised to report any suspicious objects or behavior to the authorities. Some Western governments advise their citizens against all travel to the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, and areas near the Israeli-Lebanese, Israeli-Syrian, and Israeli-Egyptian borders.
