Protesters reportedly damaged a police station and attacked four officers accused of killing a local in Katuwana (Southern province) on Wednesday, December 12. Officials subsequently deployed the Police Special Task Force who used tear gas to disperse the crowds. According to local reports, the four police officers accused killing the civilian were also injured in the unrest and have been hospitalized. A heightened security presence is expected in the coming days.
