Railway operators announced on Thursday, December 13, that forecasts of dense fog will result in significant disruptions to train service in northern India from Thursday until February 15, 2019. Up to 66 train routes will be canceled, diverted, or have reductions in service, including scheduled services to Delhi and New Delhi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Jaipur, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Patna, Allahabad, and Amritsar. Further adjustment to service is possible in the coming weeks.
Individuals in India are advised to monitor developments to the situation, confirm train reservations and schedules, and anticipate crowded conditions on operational routes and further transportation disruptions.
