Pakistan News Alert

Public transport strike continues for the sixth consecutive day in Karachi December 14; plan alternative mode of transportation

TIMEFRAME expected from 12/14/2018, 12:00 AM until 12/14/2018, 11:59 PM (UTC). COUNTRY/REGION Karachi

As of Friday, December 14, a public transportation strike ongoing for six days, continues to affect commuters in Karachi for the sixth consecutive day. The strike is being held to denounce the suspension of gas supply to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) filling stations following shortages reported at the local Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC). As such, significant public transportation disruptions are reported throughout Karachi. Further disruptions are to be anticipated in the coming days should the strike continue. Associated protests cannot be ruled out.

Individuals present in Karachi are advised to monitor development to the situation, plan alternative mode of transportations, and avoid all gatherings, as violence may flare up without warning.
