The Jamaica Defense Force (JDF) has announced it will increase security checkpoints and police presence through the end-of-year holiday season. Officials indicated security forces will also conduct targeted raids and implement vehicle checkpoints, patrols, and curfews to target criminal groups in sections of Westmoreland, Hanover, St. James, Clarendon, St. Catherine, St. Andrew, and Kingston. Increased security is to be anticipated in the coming weeks, along with associated transportation delays and crowded conditions.
Three female expatriates, including two British nationals and one American, were murdered in separate incidents in recent weeks.
Individuals in or planning travel to Jamaica in the coming weeks are advised to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious objects or behavior to local authorities.
