The Junior Doctors Association of Sierra Leone (JUDSAL) announced on Tuesday, December 18, that their nationwide strike had ended and urged all members to return to work immediately. The 13-day strike began due to complaints over low pay and poor working conditions. According to a statement released by JUDSAL, the government agreed to a timeline to meet certain demands though details were not reported. Residual disruptions (e.g. long wait times, crowds, etc.) are expected at medical facilities in the coming days.
Individuals in Sierra Leone are advised to confirm any medical appointments and to anticipate residual delays in service and crowded conditions at medical facilities.
