Protests likely in Beirut in the coming days to denounce poor economic conditions and government corruption; associated disruptions expected

Further protests are likely in the capital Beirut in the coming hours and days, to denounce the death of a Palestinian baby refugee, as well as the overall deteriorating economic conditions and perceived government corruption. Protests will likely be held at Martyr's Square. Localized transportation disruptions are expected. Clashes between protesters and security forces cannot be ruled out.


Related protests took place on December 18 at Martyr's Square and the Hamra area.


Individuals present in Lebanon are advised to monitor the situation and avoid all protests as a precaution.
