The Depok Transportation Agency has announced public transportation vans, known locally as angkot, will be rerouted to support MRT and LRT rapid transit routes in South Jakarta once service begins in 2019. Officials in Jakarta have reportedly requested transportation offices in neighboring cities to reroute public buses and vans to avoid overlap services in an attempt to reduce traffic.
The new "Mikrolet 102" route will begin at Sawangan bus terminal and end at Lebak Bulus via Limo and Cinere. The Depok transport agency indicated it also intends to reroute angkot service to support rapid transit stations in Bogor and will request permits to support planned rapid transit service in Cibubur (East Jakarta).
The Jakarta Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) rail network is scheduled to launch in March 2019. The Jakarta provincial government is also expanding the Jakarta Light Rail Transit (LRT) network which is set to open in January 2019.
Individuals are advised to monitor for public transportation service changes in the Greater Jakarta area.
