Further demonstrations took place overnight on December 25-26 in Kasserine (west), in Tebourba (north), and in Jbeniana (est), over the self-immolation of a journalist on December 24, denouncing poor economic conditions. Clashes were reported in Kasserine, where police forces used tear gas against participants, who reportedly erected roadblocks and burned tires. Further associated protests are expected in the coming days. A heightened security presence and associated transportation disruptions are to be anticipated in the vicinity of any demonstration.
