The Iraqi government reportedly agreed on Monday, December 24, to open the Al-Shahabi-Jankalah border crossing in Iraq's Wasit province to facilitate travel between Shayk Sa'd (Wasit province) and Ilam province in Iran. The border crossing will allow for trade and travel between the two countries and can process more that 2000 crossings per day. It is unclear as of late-December when the border crossing will open.
Individuals in Iran and Iraq are advised to follow all instructions issued by the authorities and to contact their nearest embassy or consulate for further details regarding visa and entry requirements.
