The UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) warned citizens of increased reports of theft from checked baggage at Cape Verde's Aristides Pereira International Airport (BVC) on Boa Vista as of late December. Airport authorities are reportedly investigating the reports and airlines are recommending travelers keep important personal valuables in their carry-on baggage.  


Individuals traveling through BVC are advised to remain vigilant of crime and take precautions to safeguard valuables and important travel documents, including storing valuables in carry-on luggage.
