Anti-government activists are planning to stage a "One Million March for Senegal" in Dakar from 15:00 to 19:00 (local time) on Friday, January 4, to protest the administration of President Macky Sall and the alleged suppression of opposition candidacies. Leaders of the C25 coalition have also announced a "One Million March" demonstration in Dakar on Tuesday, January 8, beginning at 15:00 (local time). A heightened security presence and localized traffic disruptions are to be expected near related demonstrations. Further protests are possible in the coming days and weeks.

Individuals in Dakar are advised to avoid all protests due to the risk of violence, budget extra time to travel within the city due to expected traffic disruptions, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
