A protest is scheduled to take place in Monterrey (Nuevo Leon state) on Saturday, January 5. Demonstrators will gather at the Cultural Center of the Civil College at 16:00 (local time) before marching to the Esplanade of Heroes. The protest is expected to remain peaceful, however localized traffic disruptions are anticipated along the march route. Further demonstrations are possible in the coming days and weeks.


Residents are protesting increases in public transportation rates and vehicle taxes that were recently proposed by the governor of Nuevo Leon state.


Individuals in Monterrey are advised to avoid all protests as a precaution and allow additional time to travel.
