Students are planning to stage a protest march to the prime minister's office in Tirana at 10:00 (local time) on Monday, January 7. The students are expected to gather at their universities at 09:30. Similar demonstrations are possible at universities across the country. A heightened security presence and localized traffic disruptions are to be anticipated near related protests.

Students have been organizing demonstrations since December 4 to denounce the rise in university fees and demand improved living conditions and increased representation in university administrations, among other demands.

Individuals in Albania, and particularly those in Tirana, are advised to monitor developments to the situation, follow any instructions issued by the local authorities, and avoid all protests as a precaution.
