Ramon Airport (ETM) in Eilat (Southern district) is set to begin flight operations on Tuesday, January 22. It will replace Eilat Airport (ETH) and handle all civilian flights currently using Ovda Airport (VDA). The Israel Airports Authority indicates ETM will open gradually, initially with domestic operations and then expand to international flights in March.
Ramon Airport will operate as Israel's second international airport and serve as a diversion airport for Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) near Tel Aviv.
Travelers are advised to monitor developments to the situation and to confirm the status of their flights prior to departure for the airport.
