Various unions, including UNICA, UGL-TA, and Assivolo Quadri, have announced a strike by air traffic controllers on Friday, January 11. According to the unions, controllers at area control centers in Rome, Milan, and Brindisi will participate in the work stoppage from 13:00 until 17:00 (local time). Workers at airports in Catania, Turin, Genoa, Perugia, and Pescara are also expected to take part in the strike. Flight disruptions, including cancelations and delays, are possible for domestic and international services. Intercontinental flights are not expected to be impacted.

Context

Transportation-related strikes are common in Italy and can be highly disruptive. However, in accordance with Italian law, minimum levels of services must be guaranteed during all strikes.
