Israel Defense Forces (IDF) carried out raids in Ramallah on Thursday, January 10, marking Israeli troops' fifth consecutive day of raids in the West Bank. Associated clashes broke out between Israeli soldiers and Palestinian residents in Al-Masyoun district of the city which left at least four Palestinians wounded; Palestinian youths reportedly threw stones at Israeli soldiers who, in turn, fired tear gas and rubber bullets at the demonstrators. Similar raids by Israeli forces are possible in the West Bank over the coming days.
Individuals present in the West Bank are advised to monitor developments to the situation and to avoid all demonstrations due to the threat of violence. Due to the underlying terrorist threat, travelers in Israel, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip are advised to report any suspicious objects or behavior to the authorities. Some Western governments advise their citizens against all travel to the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, and areas near the Israeli-Lebanese, Israeli-Syrian, and Israeli-Egyptian borders.
