A security operation is ongoing in the Westlands area of Nairobi following a terror attack claimed by Al-Shabaab at the Dusit D2 hotel and office complex on the afternoon of Tuesday, January 15. Unconfirmed reports indicate at least four gunmen were seen entering the site following a bombing on Riverside drive, and several people have reportedly been taken hostage. Authorities have not released any casualty figures as of 19:00 (local time), although hospital officials reported at least one death and several injuries. Details are still emerging; avoid the area.
