A demonstration was reported in front of the US Consulate General in Istanbul on the early afternoon (local time) of Tuesday, January 15. According to local sources, demonstrators gathered in front of the consulate starting at 13:00 to protest recent statements made by US President Donald Trump against Turkey. Further associated demonstrations are possible in Istanbul and other urban areas in Turkey in the coming days.


On January 13, US President Donald Trump threated to sanction Turkey economically should they carry out military operations against Kurdish forces in northern Syria.
