South African Airways (SAA) indefinitely suspended all flights in and out of Blantyre's Chileka International Airport (BLZ) in Malawi effective Saturday, January 19. The decision was made after the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) found the airport did not meet minimum safety standards during an annual inspection. The suspension is set to remain in place until all issues have been addressed and a follow-up inspection completed.
Potentially impacted travelers are advised to contact their airline for further information.
