A truck hits people crossing a national road in northern Hai Duong province January 21, killing nine

On Monday, January 21 afternoon, a truck hit a group of people crossing the national road N° 5 in northern Hai Duong province, killing nine people and injuring three others.


Traffic accidents result in high human toll each year in Vietnam. In 2018, the authorities recorded over 18,000 traffic accidents which killed 8125 people, and seriously injured more than 5000 others.


Individuals present in Vietnam are advised to drive carefully, , especially at night, due to poor driving standards. In case involved in a traffic accident, travelers could face criminal charges and may need to pay compensation to the injured person even if the injuries are minor.
