Business and transportation disruptions, along with a heightened security presence, are expected in Egypt on Friday, January 25, the eighth anniversary of the removal of former President Hosni Mubarak. Additional security forces are expected to be deployed in public squares and near government buildings and localized transportation disruptions are possible. Increased security operations are also possible in the coming days. The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) also announced that banks would close on Friday in honor of the anniversary. Other business disruptions are possible. 


Individuals in Egypt are advised to monitor the situation, adhere to instructions issued by local authorities and their home governments, anticipate a heightened security presence and business and transportation disruptions, and avoid all public demonstrations as a precaution.
