Officials indicate an armed individual surrendered to police following an attempted bank robbery in Sebring (Florida), on the afternoon (local time) of Wednesday, January 23. Emergency services reportedly treated at least five people for injuries; the nature of their injuries was not immediately reported. A police cordon is in place in the vicinity of the bank and traffic remains disrupted on US Highway 27. A heightened security presence and localized transportation disruptions are expected over the coming hours. 


All those present in the Sebring area are advised to monitor developments to the situation and to avoid the area around the bank until the investigation is complete.
