A group of college students attempted to rush through the gate of the US Embassy in Seoul on Thursday, January 31, to protest recent US demands that South Korea increase its financial contributions toward the upkeep costs for United States Forces Korea (USFK). According to local police, five students were arrested around 13:20 (local time) as they attempted to storm the embassy; earlier, the students held a news conference denouncing Washington's demands. Similar protests are possible in Seoul over the near term.
