A mountainous highway collapsed in La Paz department during a landslide on Sunday, February 3, resulting in the deaths of 11 people and injuring at least 18 others. The landslide occurred near Choro (Caranavi province) on Highway 3 between La Paz and Caranavi following continuous heavy rain in the area. A portion of the highway was destroyed and continued road closures near Choro are expected in the coming weeks until repairs can be completed.
