A storm system moving across Asia is forecast to bring heavy snow and rain to northern parts of India from Tuesday, February 5, to Thursday, February 7. The system is projected to bring up to 7 cm (2.75 in) of rain to Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and western Uttar Pradesh. Heavy snowfall is also expected in Jammu and Kashmir. The India Meteorological Department issued red weather "take action" warnings, the highest of their ranked warnings, for Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh for Wednesday, February 6, and Thursday, February 7. Dense fog is also possible in the coming days, particularly in northwest India, including Rajasthan and Punjab. Transportation disruptions are possible throughout the region.
