President Cyril Ramaphosa is set to deliver the State of the Nation Address at the Parliament Building in Cape Town on Thursday, January 7. Localized transportation disruptions and a heightened security presence are expected leading up to and during the event. A rehearsal will be held on Wednesday, February 6, at 19:00 (local time) with the main event on Thursday beginning at 19:30. Police will close roads around the City Centre on Wednesday from 19:30 to 22:00 and on Thursday from 06:00 to 23:45. Public transportation service is expected to continue with alternate routes. Other road closures in the vicinity, including in Newlands, Foreshore, and Company Gardens areas, are possible; parking restrictions will be in effect on Thursday from 00:00 to 23:45. 


Individuals in Cape Town are advised to monitor the situation, allow additional time to reach their destination, and anticipate transportation disruptions and a heightened security presence in and around the Central Business District.
