Amsterdam police have announced that a suspected gunman has been neutralized following a shooting near the Nederlandsche Bank (Dutch Central Bank) in downtown Amsterdam at approximately 19:15 (local time) on Wednesday, February 6. According to officials, police officers shot and killed a gunman after he approached them brandishing a firearm. One bystander was reportedly wounded in the shooting. A security perimeter remains in place around the area. Residual disruptions are to be anticipated near the Nederlandsche Bank in the coming hours.


Individuals in Amsterdam are advised to avoid the above area and to report any suspicious objects or behavior to local authorities.
