The French Air Force conducted airstrikes targeting suspected rebel convoys in Amdjarass (Ennedi region) in northeastern Chad on Tuesday, February 5, and Wednesday, February 6; similar strikes were also carried out on Sunday, February 3. According to a military spokesperson, the airstrikes destroyed 20 vehicles belonging to the Union des forces de la résistance (UFR) rebel group. Reports indicate the convoy had entered Chad from neighboring Libya. Further airstrikes, as well as clashes between Chadian security forces and militants, are possible in northern Chad in the near term.
Individuals in Chad are advised to monitor the situation, refrain from unnecessary travel to the border regions neighboring Sudan and Libya, and remain vigilant for militant activity.
