The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) has called for a general strike in eight provinces on Wednesday, February 13, and a strike on Tuesday, February 19, in Western Cape province, to protest job losses and high unemployment. Associated demonstrations are expected on February 13 and 19, mainly near government buildings, popular gathering points, main squares, as well as the parliament building in Cape Town (Western Cape).
