Thai and US military officials launched the annual Cobra Gold military exercise in Phitsanulok province on Tuesday, February 12. Some 10,000 military personnel from 29 countries are expected to participate in or observe the exercise, which is slated to be held through Friday, February 22.
Exercise Cobra Gold is Southeast Asia's largest multinational military exercise, held annually in Thailand. First organized in 1982, the exercise is aimed at improving interoperability among participating countries to deal with military threats, humanitarian crises, and natural disasters.
Individuals in Thailand are advised to adhere to instructions issued by the local authorities.
