Supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) party are protesting in front of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Port Harcourt as of Thursday, February 14. Protesters demand the electoral body accepts APC candidates to run for the February 16 general elections in Rivers state, after they were barred to, following a court judgment. Protesters have barricaded the entrance to the office, while traffic on the Port Harcourt-Aba Expressway is reportedly disrupted. Additional security personnel have been deployed to the area. Possible violence is likely as security forces attempt to disperse the protesters.

Individuals in Port Harcourt are advised to monitor the situation and avoid all demonstrations and large public gatherings due to the risk of violence.
