The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued flash flood warnings for parts of southern California through the evening (local time) of Thursday, February 14. Rainfall totals of up to 20 cm (8 in) are expected in parts of Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and San Diego counties. Flash floods, mudslides, and debris flows are possible in the affected areas, particularly on mountainous roads. Localized transportation disruptions, including road closures, are possible in southern California over the coming days.
Individuals present in the affected areas are advised to follow all instructions issued by local authorities and to anticipate transportation disruptions. Remember that driving or walking through running water can be dangerous; 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock an adult over.
