Nairobi to host fourth UN Environment Assembly March 11-15; heightened security and associated transportation disruptions to be anticipated

Nairobi will host the fourth session of the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA-4) from Monday, March 11, to Friday, March 15. Events will take place at the United Nations complex in the Gigiri area, and will be attended by a representatives from a variety of interests, including government, private sector, NGOs, and environmental activist groups; Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta and French President Emmanual Macron are among the dignitaries expected to be in attendance. Heightened security measures and associated transportation disruptions are to be anticipated across the city, particularly in the vicinity of the Gigiri UN complex, including road closures and security checkpoints. Disruptions and delays are also possible at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO).
